M5.2 earthquake below Mexico's western coast shakes Mexico City
The earthquake occurred the night before a national earthquake drill.
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred below Mexico’s western coast at 22:55 local time on April 18 2023 (UTC time 04:55, April 19). The earthquake was felt across the region, including by people >400 km away, but was too small to cause damage.
